Born in Timperley, Cheshire on the 10th December 1942, he spent his early years in England and in Australia (his fathers’ homeland).  On returning to England in 1949 he attended Manchester Grammer School after his primary school years and in 1951 went to Exeter College, Oxford graduating  with an honours degree in Theology.  

In 1965 he went to Cuddesdon Theological College and  was ordained in 1976, when he took up the post as assistant Curate at St. Peters’, Wolvercote, Oxford.  He met Patricia in Oxford and they were also married that year.

  A year later, in addition to his role as curate, he became Head of religious Education at Cherwell Secondary Modern School, Oxford. 

After a brief spell of initial training at RAF Henlow and the Royal Air Force College, Cranwell, he was appointed as a Station Chaplain in the Royal Air Force between 1971 and 1991 at various locations.*In 1991 Tom became the resident Chaplain at St. Clement Danes, London; (St Clement Danes is the central church of the Royal Air Force and operates as any London church does.  The post of the resident Chaplain included then that of Director of Ordinands for the RAF).

In 1993 to 1997 Tom was the Assistant Chaplain-in –Chief, RAF Strike Command.  His area covered from the North of Scotland to the Falklands and from Canada to Hong Kong. 

After his retirement from the RAF be spent 3 years running the Anglican Church Centre in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates before returning to the UK, for his final post as vicar of four parishes in North-West Hampshire.

Tom and Patricia finally retired to France in November 2007 and their current address is 9 Rue de la Gargouille,  79600 Marnes. Poitou Charentes. Tel: 0549 667914They have two grown -up married sons working respectively in Ghana and London.
